Once a thriving service industry in Tehran, public bath houses have started to suffer in recent years. The expansion of gas mains network in Tehran has led to more of the population being able to bath at home. The problem is further exacerbated by rising costs which leave room for only very small profits. Many owners have decided to sell up or turn the buildings into block of flats.
